Trying to be good

We try to be good at the Hungry Snail :-)

There are lots of arguments around food, what is good, and how good should we be as consumers. We think these arguments are important, but we don't want people to be stressed out when they come to buy from us - so we just try to be good.

What is being good? For us it includes:

  • promoting local produce
  • supporting healthy eating
  • believing in organic & fair trade
  • minimising waste
  • minimising plastics and chemicals

All this does need to be balanced against value for money. We are not targeting people who can go out and make these choices at farmers' markets, but rather people who find it more difficult to get and cook vegetables and fruit.

All this will be thought out more thoroughly over the next few weeks and months. Please add comments or get in touch via our contact page.

deliveries

This looks great - and I have been looking where to find more locally produced veg. Do you delivery to Horbury by any chance? Is there a minimum order for deliveries?

Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your enquiry (although anyone else reading this - please email questions for an immediate reply).

  • I'm sorry, we don't deliver to Horbury yet (see our Home Delivery Page for more details)
  • There is currently no charge for delivery - especially if you live near other customers

Delivery area

Hi Henry
Can you deliver to Woolley? It's a bit of a hike to the nearest supermarket but I realise it might be a bit far out to you for delivery too!
Thanks
Jon and Rach

Hi Jon and Rach
Thanks for your enquiry. You're right, it doesn't really make sense for us to travel out to Woolley regularly, although we have made occasional deliveries to Durkar, Criggleston and Newmillerdam. If you call us on 07726 362732 we can discuss possibilities including making a delivery charge, meeting half way, or you could pick up (still driving, but saves the supermarket traffic and queues...)
